Despite apparently causing quite a stir in the US upon its
release, I was hugely entertained by this series of ads created for Playtex
Fresh + Sexy Intimate Wipes by Grey, New York. The world-famous agency got serious
flak for backing this so-called “high-school-locker-room humor” and were criticized
for being “lazy” in creating this campaign. The complaints continued where it was said that the ads were offensive to women, immature, and created in bad taste. But this said,
how are you really supposed to create an ad about VAGINAL WIPES that is not
going to offend someone? And I don’t know if it’s just me, but the ‘immature’
puns had me giggling.
